What types of policies does ahm Health Insurance offer?

ahm Health Insurance offer a range of Health Insurance packages: 

• Hospital: Helps to provide benefits towards the cost of in-hospital treatment should you require it.
• Extras: Pays benefits towards additional services that fall outside the hospital that aren’t usually covered by Medicare. Depending on the policy, this can include dental, optical and physiotherapy treatment.
• Hospital & Extras: Exactly as the name suggests, this cover combines the previous two policies together into a single, simple to understand package. 

What Hospital cover options do ahm Health Insurance offer³? 

ahm Health offer a range of hospital cover policies, the following are available through iSelect: 

• Starter Basic: This is just for accidents and includes the minimum standard clinical categories. 
• Essentials Basic Plus: This is for hospital essentials with some extra services such as tonsils and joint reconstructions.
• Core Bronze Plus: There are further additions including (medically necessary) plastic and reconstructive surgery.
• (Elevate) Silver Plus: This includes additions such as rehabilitation, insulin pumps, pain management, and sleep studies.
• (Super) Silver Plus: Additions include cataracts, joint replacements, and dialysis for chronic kidney failure. 

What types of Extras are available with ahm⁴? 

There are various levels of ahm Extras policies available through iSelect including Value Extras, Lifestyle Extras, Black 60 Extras, Family Extras and Super Extras.  

Extras typically include routine, complex and major dental services, orthodontics, physiotherapy, chiropractic services, and much more.

What is included in ahm’s rehab programs and in-home services⁵?

With ahm Hospital Cover, you can also get access to other benefits such as their in-home services. This could include something like rehabilitation following a surgical procedure, or further treatment requiring a nurse after a hospital stay. 

• Hospital in the home: This is where ahm may organise for a nurse to visit you in your home following a hospital stay to assist you with your recovery in the comfort of your own home. This could include having wound dressings changed, IV infusions, and other hospital services.   
• Reconditioning rehab: This is not an in-home benefit, but with ahm, eligible members could receive coverage for reconditioning rehab services, which can include cardiac rehab, rehab after stroke or other neurological health issues, or a rehab program to rebuild your strength following a hospital stay⁶. 
• Rehab at home after joint replacement surgery: An extensive rehab program is sometimes required after you’ve undergone a joint replacement surgery. With ahm, you may be eligible to undergo this program from the comfort of your home, instead of at hospital or in a specialised centre.

Does ahm Health Insurance offer any discounts or additional perks to members?

They sure do. Many health insurance funds now offer youth dscounts, as do ahm. If you’re aged 18-29 you might be eligible to get a discount on your hospital cover with ahm Health Insurance⁷.  

There’s also a range of perks available to ahm Health Insurance members, including⁸

1. Goodlife health club discounts off new selected memberships. 
2. Up to 25% off at Specsavers.
3. Up to 20% off at OPSM. 

How much value can I get with ahm Health Insurance?

The benefits paid by your insurer for hospital services will vary depending on whether your insurer has an agreement with that particular hospital. 

Depending on the arrangement, you may not have any out-of-pocket expenses for your accommodation or a significant reduction. You’re entitled to and should always ask your hospital or health insurer for an estimate in advance of the costs of your treatment, in both private and public hospitals.

Remember to always check with your doctor or specialist regarding their treatment charges for inpatient services. These packages can vary in terms of what they cover, so we suggest discussing this with a consultant if you have any questions.

How can I manage my cover with ahm?

Managing your ahm Health Insurance cover online is a breeze. Once you’ve created an account at ahm, you can make and view claims, use ahm’s handy benefit calculator, check out waiting periods, order replacement cards and even search for partner private hospitals.

On top of that, you can also download the ahm app and use it to process all your claims.

How can I manage my premium payments with ahm?

Through iSelect, you can pay your ahm premium payments via direct debit.

How to make a claim with ahm?

There’s a number of options available to you when making a claim with ahm Health Insurance.

1. On the spot. If you’ve got your ahm membership card, you can claim instantly following your treatment at providers with HICAPS. 
2. Via a mobile app. By taking a photo of your receipt using your smartphone, you can submit eligible claims using the ahm app. 
3. Similarly to the app, you can log on to https://ahm.com.au/ and lodge your eligible claim there. 
4. By post. You can fill out a claim form and send it to: ahm Health Insurance, Locked Bag 1006, Matraville, NSW, 2036
