Compare Electricity & Gas Plans

Save time and effort by comparing a range of energy plans with iSelect

Who is Lumo Energy?

Owned by Snowy Hydro Limited, Lumo Energy is as Australian as burning yourself on a hot seatbelt in the middle of summer. They offer both electricity and gas services to Aussie residents and businesses, whether you’re switching providers or moving to a new place.

What makes Lumo Energy special?

Aside from being an Australian-owned option, Lumo Energy stands its ground amid the competition for a few different reasons.

Award-winning service

While Lumo Energy might be a little more fresh-faced than other Energy Providers, they’ve got plenty of experience delivering great service and the industry recognition to prove it. In fact, since 2010 they’ve earned themselves over a dozen awards.

A carbon-neutral company

It’s all well and good to offer carbon-neutral plans but what about practising what you preach? That’s what Lumo Energy does. All Lumo Energy’s Australian business operations are 100% carbon neutral as certified by Climate Active. From using only GreenPower in their offices to choosing a video conference over travelling to meetings, Lumo Energy shows just how easy it is to reduce your emissions, whether it’s at home or at work.

Partnered with community groups big and small

If you’re in need of a laugh, a helping hand or a great game of netball, Lumo Energy has your back. They’re proud supporters of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Salvation Army’s ‘Safer in the Home’ program, and both the Melbourne Mavericks and Waverley Night Netball Association.

Where is Lumo Energy available?

Lumo Energy could be your next Energy Provider if you live in Victoria or South Australia. If you call somewhere else home, unfortunately Lumo Energy isn’t in your state or territory. Even if you are in Victoria or SA, what plans you may be able to access could depend on your specific location.

What kind of plans does Lumo Energy offer?

If you’re looking to skip the bells and whistles in favour of plain value, Lumo Energy could be the way forward for you. With plans that come free of exit fees and contract terms, you could enjoy flexibility without the fine print.

How much does Lumo Energy cost?

Like snowflakes, no two energy bills are the same. While this is a good thing to ensure you’re not paying for energy you aren’t using, it does mean it can be a little tricky to accurately estimate what you’d pay on a Lumo Energy plan. However, the Default Market Offer (DMO) or Victorian Default Offer (VDO) could give you a little more clarity on your electricity bill.

Both the DMO and VDO could give you an idea of what is a reasonable price to pay for electricity according to your distribution area. You can see what the current DMO is via the Australian Energy Regulator, while the Essential Services Commission handles the VDO. Or, if you want to halve the work for yourself, you can use our online comparison tool to see how Lumo Energy plans and other options fare against the relevant reference price. You might find that a Lumo Energy Electricity Plan comes under the benchmark, giving you more bang for your buck.

But what about gas? Unfortunately, you’re going to have to do a little more footwork to figure that one out. There’s no benchmark price for gas, but you can get a personalised estimate of what you could be paying on a range of plans through iSelect.

Does Lumo Energy have solar options?

Bringing your own solar-generated electricity to the party can be a simple yet effective way to trim some fat from your electricity bills, thanks to some feed-in credit. Conveniently, Lumo Energy offers solar feed-in tariffs with their Electricity Plans.

How can I access my Lumo Energy account online?

MyAccount is your go-to way to manage your Lumo Energy account. From paying bills to letting Lumo Energy know your phone number has changed, it’s your easy online portal. Plus, it’s super simple to set up. You can register with your email address — or even your Facebook, Google, Microsoft or Apple account. Then you just need to enter your name and date of birth, along with your Lumo Energy account number. You can do all this in only a matter of minutes.

How can I pay my Lumo Energy bill?

Paying your Lumo Energy bill isn’t just straightforward, you can also choose from a range of payment styles. For instance, if you prefer the personal touch, you can pay over the phone or post a cheque. Alternatively, if you’ve woken up in the middle of the night remembering you’ve forgotten to pay your bill one too many times, you can set and forget with Direct Debit, EvenPay and Centrepay. You can also use BPAY if you prefer to take a more active role in your bill paying but don’t feel like the face-to-face interaction.
