Compare Electricity & Gas Plans

Who is EnergyAustralia?

As both an Energy Retailer and generator, EnergyAustralia is well and truly part of Australia’s electricity and gas game. Plus, with more than 1.6 million customers, the chances are good that your neighbour, that guy from work you always see on the train and your cousin’s best mate could all be with EnergyAustralia.1EnergyAustralia – Doing, not just dreaming

What makes EnergyAustralia special?

Picking a winning Energy Retailer doesn’t just have to be about the cash that comes out of your bank account.

Get help when you need it

Whether it’s the cozzie livs (‘cost of living’ to our non-Gen Z friends) getting you down or just a run of bad luck, there’s no shame in needing a helping hand. And EnergyAssist does just that. If you’re going through a hard time, EnergyAustralia can help you apply for government grants and assistance schemes, hook you up with a financial counsellor and even offer energy-saving tips. They’ll also make sure your energy supply stays connected so you can focus on sorting things out one step at a time.

Support the community

EnergyAustralia is working to change their own backyard for the better. To start, the communities around their power stations and other sites can put their hat in the ring for education and social inclusion program grants. At a bigger scale, EnergyAustralia also has a detailed Reconciliation Action Plan to help bring the country’s past, present and future together by strengthening relationships with Australia’s First Nations peoples. From backing the Uluru Statement from the Heart to working with other businesses that support local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the ball is well and truly rolling.

Where is EnergyAustralia available?

EnergyAustralia offers their gas and electricity services across Australia’s east coast, from New South Wales around to South Australia. Unfortunately, they aren’t available in Tassie, WA or NT though, and Queensland can only access their Electricity Plans.

What plans does EnergyAustralia offer?

To whet your appetite for what life could be like on an EnergyAustralia Energy Plan, we have a little tasting platter for you featuring the:

  • Balance Plan Home: This plan features variable rates that can go up or down. You can choose this plan for gas or electricity or both.
  • Basic Home: Keep things simple with standing offer prices on your electricity, along with annually determined gas rates. And if you ever feel like a change, there’s no exit fees.

To see a range of EnergyAustralia plans that are currently available in your neck of the woods, you can always get in touch with iSelect at 13 19 20 or use our online comparison tool.

How much do EnergyAustralia plans cost?

There’s no set-in-stone answer for how much an EnergyAustralia plan will cost simply because factors like where you live, what plan you’re on and how much energy you use all contribute to that final number. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t do a little guess-timating.

So you’re not just making a wild stab in the dark, it’s time to turn to the Default Market Offer (DMO) or Victorian Default Offer (VDO). Both are regulated standing offer prices for electricity, with the DMO applying to NSW, South East Queensland and SA. No prizes for guessing where the VDO is in action. These standing offer prices are set every year by the relevant regulating authority with the aim of ensuring you get a fair price but helping to cover the costs involved in generating, distributing and transmitting that electricity. With them, you can get an idea of what you could be paying and even find plans that cost less.

Handily, EnergyAustralia’s Basic Home plan actually uses these prices, so you can check out the Australian Energy Regulator’s site for the current DMO prices and the Essential Services Commission’s site for the VDO.

Alternatively, if you want to save yourself the legwork, plus get some gas estimates too (no standing offer prices on these sadly), you can always try our online comparison tool to see what you could be paying on a selection of EnergyAustralia plans and more.

What solar options does EnergyAustralia offer?

Since Australia has sunshine in spades, it makes sense that EnergyAustralia has some solar options up for grabs. For instance, you can try the Solar Max plan that comes with higher feed-in tariffs so you can make a little spending money from any excess your system generates. On the other hand, if you feel like another EnergyAustralia plan is calling to you, you may still be able to get paid for solar exports.

Where can I compare Energy Plans?

Sometimes less is more. For example, you could be getting more value out of your Energy Plan for less by making the switch to EnergyAustralia or another retailer. See what’s possible by comparing a range of Energy Plans with iSelect either online or by giving our team a call on 13 19 20
