What types of Car Insurance does Huddle offer?

Huddle offers three different levels of Car Insurance, including Third Party Property Only, Comprehensive and Huddle Black Comprehensive.

Third Party Property Only

Huddle’s Third Party Property policy covers you for damage to other people’s property if the driver of your car is at fault. You can also choose to add optional fire and theft cover to your Third Party Property policy to unlock additional features and benefits.8Huddle Insurance – Car Insurance Combined Product Disclosure Statement & Financial Services Guide, page 7 And while this level of cover offers protection for your liability to third parties, it doesn’t cover any repairs to your own car unless your car is damaged in an accident caused by another person who is uninsured and only up to a limited amount. Cover terms and limits apply.

Comprehensive

This level of insurance offers the same protection as the Third Party Property Only, plus they’ll cover  loss or damage to your car caused by a collision, fire, malicious damage, theft or natural events like hail, storm or flood . But that’s not all, customise your cover to suit your needs with Huddle’s range of optional add-ons.9As above, page 25 It’s no wonder Comprehensive cover is Huddle’s most popular Car Insurance option.

Huddle Black Comprehensive

If Comprehensive Cover wasn’t enough, Huddle also offers their Huddle Black product. Featuring all the great benefits of their Comprehensive Cover, Huddle Black also comes with additional benefits, higher limits and roadside assistance included for those who prefer a little extra protection.10Huddle Insurance – Huddle Black Car Insurance

How do excesses work with Huddle?

When it comes to your Car Insurance excess, you’ll find all the relevant excess amounts detailed on your Certificate of Insurance. In instances where an excess applies, you’ll have to fork out for your basic excess plus any applicable additional excess(es).16Huddle Insurance – Car Insurance Combined Product Disclosure Statement & Financial Services Guide, page 44

Here’s how the different types of excesses work with Huddle:17Car Insurance Combined Product Disclosure Statement & Financial Services Guide, page 44

  • Basic excess: The basic excess is the amount you have to pay on claim where an excess applies. Huddle offers a range of basic excesses from $500 to $5,000 so you can tailor your policy to suit your needs. The following additional excesses may also be payable on a claim in addition to the basic excess, unless otherwise stated.
  • Learner driver excess: As the name suggests, this excess applies to learner drivers. If a learner is behind the wheel of your car when an accident occurs, it’ll set you back an extra $800.
  • Age excess: The age excess applies to named drivers listed on your policy that are under the age of 25. This extra excess is $800 for drivers aged 21 to 24, and $1,200 for drivers under 21, but the Age Excess doesn’t apply to learner drivers.
  • Sports Gear Cover fixed excess: This excess comes in at $250 and applies to all Sports Gear Cover claims. Unlike the other excess types, it is payable instead of the basic excess and not on top of the basic excess.
  • Undeclared young driver excess: If the driver of your car is under 25 and not a named driver on your policy when you make a claim for loss or damage, you’ll need to cover this additional excess which is $1,600 for drivers aged 21 to 24, and $2,000 for drivers under 21. This excess doesn’t apply to learner drivers.
  • Inexperienced driver excess: This excess applies to drivers 25 and over who haven’t held a valid licence to drive in Australia for the last 2 or more years. The excess is an extra $800 and doesn’t apply to learner drivers.
  • Pay As You Drive Cover additional excess: Coming in at an extra $1,000, you’ll only need to pay this excess if the Pay As You Drive Cover appears on your Certificate of Insurance and if your odometer reading is either below your start odometer or above your end odometer as set out on your Certificate of Insurance at the time of your claim. This excess will also apply if you fail to provide your start odometer reading within 14 days of your policy start date.
