What’s the best way to compare Carpeesh Car Insurance Policies?

Why should you consider Carpeesh Car Insurance

Wondering what sets Carpeesh apart? As a policyholder, you can expect plenty of benefits.

  • Driver Safety App – One of Carpeesh’s trademark products is their Driver Safety App. The app lets you access your policy details and report accidents in an instant and helps Carpeesh determine your premiums.
  • Targeted Insurance Products – Carpeesh has insurance policies that specifically cater to young drivers and others who use their cars for work – with included and optional benefits specifically for each policy. You pay only for the cover you need.
  • 24/7 Claims Service – You can easily lodge a claim at any time of night or day, either through the app, over the phone or email, or via their website.
  • Australian based – All Carpeesh staff are based in Australia.
  • Lifetime Repair Guarantee – If your car undergoes repair, Carpeesh provides a lifetime guarantee that covers defects due to faulty workmanship or materials.
  • Two-year New Car Replacement – If your car is under two years old and considered a total loss after being stolen or in an accident, you’ll get a new one that’s the same make, model and specs.
  • Backed by Reputation – Carpeesh is underwritten by RACQ Insurance, the largest car insurer in Queensland and winner of the 2023 Mozo People’s Choice Award for Outstanding Customer Satisfaction.

How does Carpeesh’s Driver Safety App work?

Carpeesh’s Driver Safety App is an essential feature of your policy. The app offers convenient self-service features to make your life on the road easier, and DrivePoints for you to understand what driving behaviours you’re good at and what you can improve on. DrivePoints gives you the ability to directly influence your future premiums. If you’re in an accident, you can also report it from the scene and provide images of the collision damage, witnesses, and the third-party licence if another driver caused the accident.

The App samples your trip data including your speed relative to road speed limits, acceleration, harsh braking and the times of day or night when you typically drive. You’ll get a score between 0.1 (lowest) and 5.0 (highest), which you can check at any time via the app to get an idea of your driving habits. The higher your DrivePoints, the lower your premium will be at your next renewal.

The benefit of DrivePoints over a No Claims Discount or Rating is that your premiums are determined in a shorter timeframe (one year) rather than the number of years that you’ve been on the road without a claim.

If you take out an insurance policy with Carpeesh, you’ll receive a download link via SMS to their Driver Safety App, which you can then easily connect to your policy.

The Driver Safety App is also offered to any other drivers listed on your policy so that they can see their unique driving style.

What types of Car Insurance does Carpeesh offer?

All Carpeesh policies come with a host of benefits, including:

  • 24/7 claims service

  • Australian, UK, Ireland and New Zealand licences accepted but no other foreign licences

  • No need to list learner drivers (they’re covered under the applicable supervising Driver Excess)
  • Optional windscreen benefit (at additional cost)
  • Optional Hire Car benefit (at additional cost)

How do excesses work with Carpeesh?

Found yourself in a road accident? You may need to pay an excess – or multiple excess charges, if they apply. The excess is essentially the amount of money you need to front up if you make a claim, and most insurers charge it.

With Carpeesh, the excess amount you pay is based on a range of factors including your location, your age, your driving experience, whether you’re a listed driver and whether you’ve downloaded the Carpeesh Driver Safety App.

  • Standard Excess. This is the base excess amount, and it varies from state to state.
  • Age Excess. This applies if the driver is 25 years old or younger at the time of the incident.
  • Inexperienced Driver Excess. If the driver of the car is considered inexperienced, a further excess will be charged. The amount can vary depending on whether they’re listed on the policy or not.
  • Non-listed Driver Excess. If someone else is driving your car, and they’re not listed on your policy, there’ll be another excess. The amount charged hinges on their age.
  • Carpeesh Driver Safety App. If you haven’t downloaded the Driver Safety App at the time of the claim, there will be an additional charge. You have a 30-day grace period from your policy start date to download the app and link it to your policy.
  • Off-road Excess. If you’re driving off a public road, on land that isn’t yours or on a beach, you’ll be charged an additional excess.
  • Optional Windscreen Excess. If you don’t have windscreen protection included in your policy, you’ll pay an additional excess if it needs to be replaced. But you won’t need to pay any excess if it’s able to be repaired.

Note that if you’re deemed not at fault in the incident, you won’t have to pay any excess.

How do I make a claim?

Making a claim with Carpeesh is incredibly easy and can be done 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Plus, you have a choice of ways to log your claim.

  • Driver Safety App – Simply open up your app and report the incident as soon as it happens
  • Phone – You can chat to a member of Carpeesh’s claims team 24/7
  • Chat – LiveChat is available 24/7
  • Email – The claims team is also reachable via [email protected]
  • Carpeesh website – Where you can submit a claim in just a few easy steps

Regardless of how you choose to make a claim, you may need to submit details of the incident, driver and vehicle information, receipts, bank records, proof that you purchased your car, your driving licence and claims history and other important documents.

Once you’ve lodged your claim, you’ll get a claims reference from Carpeesh. The claims team will then let you know what happens next, usually within two business days.

Payments

Carpeesh accepts several payment types for their annual premiums via VISA or Mastercard credit and debit cards.
