Who is ENGIE?
ENGIE is a big name on the international energy scene — particularly when it comes to renewables — with operations in more than 31 countries. Closer to home, ENGIE has been around for more than a decade (although you may have known them as Simply Energy). Globally, ENGIE is committed to decarbonisation, aiming to reach net zero by 2045.
What makes ENGIE special?
Whether you’re after savings or feeling good about your energy usage, ENGIE has you covered. With ENGIE being part of a global network, customers are able to take advantage of collected knowledge, technology and innovative renewable energy sources to assist ENGIE in delivering on its commitment to be Nett Zero globally by 2045.
Plans that come loaded with perks
With ENGIE’s range of Energy Plans you can enjoy sign-up extras that are far more exciting than a free pen. Depending on your plan, you could get discounts on everything from daily essentials, like fuel and groceries – to the luxuries that make life worth living, like movies and holidays.
Making it easy to go green
With 100% carbon neutral Energy Plans certified by Climate Active, it’s easy to offset your emissions with ENGIE. But you can do even more for the environment and get rewarded for it. For instance, you could become part of the ENGIE Virtual Power Plant (VPP) if you have a solar system with a battery. You can then share excess solar-generated electricity with your community and get VPP bill credits.
Partnerships to make you proud
Along with creating a better future through carbon neutral options, ENGIE is also making a difference to the lives of vulnerable young people, thanks to their charity partnership with the Smith Family. Through their work with the Smith Family, ENGIE helps to empower in-need young Australians through education, connection, and hope.
Where is ENGIE available?
ENGIE has plans available across the country, excluding the ACT, NT, and Tasmania. What plans you can access though could depend on your location.
What plans does ENGIE offer?
With ENGIE’s residential Energy Plans you could find new ways to save money. Alternatively, if looking out for the environment is something that’s always on your to-do list but you can never find the time, an ENGIE carbon-neutral, or 100% GreenPower plan for only an additional one dollar a week, could tick the box for you.
How much does ENGIE cost?
Everyone’s ENGIE bill will be different depending on their plan, location, and usage. However, using benchmark or reference prices like the Default Market Offer (DMO) or Victorian Default Offer (VDO) could give you an idea of what to expect when your electricity bill comes in.
You can see what you might be paying on the DMO by looking at the Australian Energy Regulator site or on the VDO through the Essential Services Commission site. Alternatively, you can always get in touch with iSelect. Using our handy comparison tool, we can give you the rundown on a selection of plans from ENGIE and other Energy Retailers, including estimated costs and how they fare against the reference price.
Unfortunately, it’s a different story with gas. There’s no handy benchmark price. However, you can still get a personalised estimate through iSelect.
What solar options does ENGIE offer?
While ENGIE does have renewable options available, like their GreenPower and carbon offsetting opportunities, you can also bring your own sustainable electricity generation to the party. For instance, with ENGIE’s solar Energy Plan option, you could use your own solar-generated electricity as you like and sell any excess off with a high feed-in tariff to cut down on your electricity bill for those times when the sun isn’t shining. Plus, you can still take advantage of those carbon neutral perks and avoid worrying about exit fees or lock-in contracts.
How can I pay my bill?
It’s your bill, so you should be able to pay it the way you want. With ENGIE, you can pay your bill online in a variety of ways:
- BPAY
- Direct debit
- Credit cards
- PayPal
- Google Pay
- Apple Pay
If you’re partial to a more human touch, you can also visit any Australia Post and pay your bill with a credit card, debit card, cheque or cash. And if you’re worried about missing a bill or just like to get things tidied away early, you can even make advance payments over the phone.
Can I access my account online?
There’s very little these days that you can’t do online and that includes staying on top of your ENGIE account. You can use their web portal or the MyENGIE app to:
- Pay your bills or request more time to pay them
- Monitor your daily energy usage and submit your own meter readings
- Update your contact details
- Set up direct debit payments
If you want, you can also go paperless and receive your bills online. This means your bills will be instantly sent to your email inbox, rather than meandering their way through the post, which means more time to budget to pay them.
