Long story short
TAL has a range of life insurance options
Their policies offer flexibility and can be customised to suit your unique circumstances now and into the future.
But TAL has more to offer than life insurance
For instance, you may be eligible to access grief support services through your Accelerated Protection policy.1The Grief Support benefit is available to you or your Immediate Family Member who need support when we pay 100% of the Benefit Amount. TAL will reimburse the cost of up to three grief support sessions, to a total maximum cost of $1,000 for all three sessions, with an accredited health provider approved by TAL, acting reasonably (the health provider should be competent, recognised and appropriately qualified to provide the support).
If you need to claim, you can contact TAL by email or phone
A dedicated claims consultant will then help you with the process.

Why consider TAL for your life insurance?
Get rewards for keeping on top of your health
TAL’s Health Sense Plus program encourages preventive health care, like regular screening tests. Staying up to date on what is going on with your body can help you spot problems early and deal with them sooner. Plus, you could get a discount on your TAL life insurance premiums,4TAL Health Sense Plus discount does not apply to Child Critical Illness premiums which lasts for two years and can be renewed with another test.
Access grief counselling when things feel darkest
As a TAL policy holder, you and your immediate family can use their 24/7 grief support line if you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Additionally, your immediate family can speak to them for support if you pass away.5The Grief Support benefit is available to you or your Immediate Family Member who need support when we pay 100% of the Benefit Amount. TAL will reimburse the cost of up to three grief support sessions, to a total maximum cost of $1,000 for all three sessions, with an accredited health provider approved by TAL, acting reasonably (the health provider should be competent, recognised and appropriately qualified to provide the support).
Experience a transparent, fair, and supportive service
TAL’s guiding philosophy is to remove complexity from life insurance, while providing a fair service to all their customers. That’s why your TAL claims consultant will always explain to you what needs to happen next, including why that’s the case and how to go about it.
What types of policies do they offer?
TAL’s life insurance policies include cover for, if you pass away or can’t work, including:
- life cover: if you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness and have less than 12 months left to live, or pass away
- total and permanent disablement (TPD) insurance: if you have a total and permanent disability and you can’t work again. You can choose to cover your ‘own’ occupation, or ‘any’ occupation that you might be suited to based on your previous education, training or experience
- critical illness or trauma insurance: designed to provide a lump sum if you suffer a serious illness, diagnosis or health event and meet the severity criteria set out in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). This could help with ongoing bills and medical costs so you can focus on recovery
- income protection: can pay a monthly benefit if you can’t work for a time because of an illness or injury after you have served your waiting period.
In 2024–25, 74% of approved TAL claims were for customers recovering from an illness or injury.6TAL – Claims paid
Depending on your policy, you (or your family) may receive a lump sum or regular payments for a specified benefit period. This financial support can help you focus on what really matters, like looking after your loved ones, rather than how you’ll put food on the table.
TAL’s life insurance policies are designed with flexibility in mind. After all, your family’s circumstances can change over time.
Helpful tip

You may find that some life insurance policies, including options from TAL, make it easy to increase your sum insured without needing to revisit the underwriting process. Depending on the terms of your policy, if a certain life event happens, like having a baby or taking out a mortgage, you can simply inform your insurer of your news, and they’ll check your eligibility and if you are eligible update your policy and premium accordingly.7Persons with special terms such as a premium loading or exclusion based on underwriting risk are not eligible for Guaranteed Future Insurability. See the PDS for full eligibility details. This can mean you don’t need to cancel your current policy and take out a new life insurance policy, possibly risking being uninsured for some time.
