What policies does Zoom travel insurance offer?
Medical-only
Medical-only policies are designed to give you the basics of travel insurance coverage. This typically includes coverage for emergency medical costs and repatriation, as well as emergency dental expenses overseas. These policies are a good option for travellers on a tight budget, who don’t want to travel without insurance, but don’t want to say goodbye to their budget either.
Standard
Standard travel insurance policies are you’re middle ground. They’ll be able to help cover you for a handful of common travel insurance issues, like emergency medical costs, luggage, travel documents, cancellations and disruptions (up to a chosen limit) and more. These policies are a good choice for travellers who want a nice basic (yet rounded) level of coverage against the unknown.

Comprehensive
Comprehensive travel insurance takes things to the next level and helps protect you from a wider range of travel-related instances. Comprehensive policies usually cover all the standard inclusions like luggage, cancellations, sometimes with higher limits. It can also have some extra perks like travel delays coverage, special event transport expenses, or amendments to your plans.
Helpful tip

Just because you didn’t make your original flight doesn’t mean travel insurance will swoop in and save the day. Depending on your travel insurer, you might not be able to claim on a delayed, diverted or cancelled flight unless you meet certain conditions. The causes behind these delays that are usually accepted include natural disasters, severe weather, strikes, etc.
It’s also important to check the details of your product disclosure statement (PDS) to see who’s actually responsible, between your insurer and your airline. For example, missed flights caused by mechanical issues, overbooking, or maintenance will usually fall on your airline to cover.

Yes, Zoom have a customer hub online. So, once you’ve purchased your policy, all you have to do is simply log in to change your dates, countries, personal information and more.
What destinations can I get cover for?
Zoom offers travel insurance policies for countries across the globe, with options to cover individual countries or grouped regions such as Asia, Europe, the Pacific, and Worldwide (all destinations). If you select a grouped region, just make sure all the countries you’ll be going to (and passing through) are included.
How does my excess work?
An excess is the amount you’ll have to pay when making a claim. Generally, you’ll see a change in your premium depending on your chosen excess amount. If you choose to pay a bigger excess amount, your insurer is likely to lower your premium, on the other hand, if you choose a lower excess, you could see a higher premium price.
Zoom also has a double or no excess applied to certain claims. You can read the product disclosure statement (PDS) for more information on where these might apply.
How do I make a claim?
In an emergency or urgent medical situation, you should call the first assistance line as soon as possible. That way, you can get the care you need and start the claims process on the spot.
If it’s not an emergency, you can submit a claim online while you’re still on your trip or within 30 days after coming back home. You’ll need to make sure you’ve got any documentation or evidence ready, like photos of the incident, medical reports or receipts. After you’ve submitted your claim, Zoom will assess it within 10 working days or let you know if they need any other information to process your claim.
