Fresh from a fighting first round win, Melbourne’s AFL women’s team will learn whether they are serious finals contenders when they face off against last year’s inaugural AFLW premiers Adelaide on Saturday.
And the Adelaide Crows will also have something to prove come siren time at Casey Fields following their round one loss to the Brisbane Lions in the grand final rematch.
In a hard fought victory against the Giants in round one, the Demons won by a single goal thanks to a powerhouse second half from Rochelle ‘Rocky’ Cranston, who kicked three goals.
Coach Mick Stinear praised the inspirational performance of captain Daisy Pearce in helping claim victory.
“It’s only going to get better. It was a good snapshot of what’s to come and it was really exciting for women’s footy,” he said. Last season, Melbourne defeated the Crows by two points and will be looking for a convincing victory come Saturday.
Round Two:
Melbourne Demons v. Adelaide Crows
Saturday 10th of February
