Absolutely. While Stella’s insurance products are targeted primarily at women, they provide Car Insurance for men and non-binary people who share their vision of empowering women.

What are the benefits of insuring your car with Stella?

  • Options to save on your premium: To lower your premium, you have the power to choose a higher excess, adjust the Agreed Value of your car, or save 17% on your premium by paying your insurance annually.
  • You’ll be rewarded for being a safe driver: For every consecutive year you don’t make a claim, or only make a claim from an accident where you were not-at-fault, Stella will reduce your basic excess by $100 each year for up to three years.
  • Cover with less confusing jargon: Stella prides itself on its easy-to-understand Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and cover documents, so knowing where you stand is a breeze.
  • They give back to women in need: Five dollars from every new Car Insurance policy goes to the Women and Girls Emergency Centre to help women walk away from domestic violence.
  • Inclusivity is in their DNA: Stella are one of the only insurance providers offering a non-binary option on their quote journey, providing options for her, him and they.

How do excesses work with Stella?

In most cases, when making a claim with Stella you will need to contribute an amount towards the costs involved in the claim. Your contribution may be made up of one or more of Stella’s four excess types. These include:

Basic excess

Basic excess applies to all claims unless your claim for a not-at-fault accident or the incident you’re claiming for is malicious damage, theft or attempted theft and you can provide Stella with the full name and address of the individual responsible.

Age excess

This is an additional excess that’s applied when the driver of your car is under the age of 25 at the time of the incident and they have caused or contributed to the incident. The age excess does not apply to learner drivers, as they’re automatically covered under your policy, as long as they’re supervised by a properly licensed driver.

Additional policy and additional driver excess

An additional policy and/or additional driver excess may apply to your policy as a result of the insurance history of your car or its driver. They apply in addition to the basic excess and any other applicable excess for the claim when that driver causes or contributes to an incident.

How do I make a claim?

There’s no two ways about it, car accidents are stressful! But luckily, making a claim with Stella is as easy as picking up the phone and chatting to a member of their friendly team.

Stella’s claims team is available 24/7 to help you resolve your claim as soon as possible. All you need to do is provide:

  • your policy number
  • details of what happened
  • details of other people involved, such as names and contact details of third parties and witnesses.

Stella will then review your claim and get back to you on the next steps within 48 hours

Payments

You can pay for your Stella Car Insurance premium in full annually (scoring you a cool 17% off your total premium – minus admin fee!) or via monthly instalments. All payments are debited from your nominated debit or credit card on your scheduled instalment date each month.

Stella Comprehensive Car Insurance is issued and underwritten by QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited (ABN 78 003 191 035, AFSL 239545) (QBE) and distributed by Stella Underwriting Pty Ltd (ABN 72633811319) acting as an Authorised Representative (AR 001282046) of Insurtech Gateway Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 27 633 140 879, AFSL 525866), which is acting under its own AFSL on behalf of QBE.
